ARPA
Funding Allocation

We're honored to be chosen by the Guilford Board of Selectman to allocate $1 million in federal relief funding to 34 area nonprofits through the American Rescue Plan Act. As Guilford First Selectman Matt Hoey explained, “The ARPA funding will positively impact our community as it fortifies nonprofits focused on delivering critical resources to our residents. We thank The Guilford Foundation for their trusted leadership and the ARPA Review Committee for bringing experience and rigor to the process.”

Grant FAQs

TGF awards grants to 509(a)(3) not-for-profit organizations and 170(c)(1) governmental agencies serving the Guilford community. Previous grantees are welcome to apply; however, continued funding is not guaranteed.

Before our grant application deadline, TGF organizes a virtual Grant Application Workshop in February to review this year’s grant priorities, how to apply for a grant, and answer any questions. We record the workshop so all grantees can hear the information.

TGF will review applications outside the typical process for an Emergent Needs Grant. Most grants are handled through our competitive grant process. Qualifications for an emerging grant review include an innovative concept or new to the Guilford community; a situation in which the organization can’t operate or move forward on a significant initiative without emergency funding; or the need or concept arises after the grant deadline. TGF will review these situations on a rolling basis starting May 15th. Contact the Program Director with questions.

The Community Investment Committee (CIC) reviews applications and recommends funding to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors makes the final decision on all grant awards.

We support various nonprofit organizations and causes, including Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Community Improvement & Vitality, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Education & Youth, Environment & Sustainability, Health and Human Services, Housing Stability, and Seniors & Special Needs.

No. The Community Investment Committee and staff determine which applications may qualify for a particular Donor Advised Fund or Field of Interest Fund.
